Captain Jack: Last time I talked to you, you were just planning your comeback. What are the major changes you’ve seen in the industry in the 4 years you’ve been away.
Shawna Lenee: This industry has changed so much that it doesn’t even feel like the same industry anymore! Everything is social media based. When I started, our names were built on box covers and press releases. Now, it’s just trying to reach as many people as you can. So, definitely, the way of marketing and getting your name out has changed. The way I make money personally has changed. I rely on making more money from my name than from making videos. Advertising on my Twitter, on Facebook, advertising on my blog…I’m just trying to bring in so many different types of revenue to make a well-rounded income.
CJ: That’s true. When you were in it the first time, there was no such thing as social media. Now, it’s like a full-time job.
Shawna: Yes, all we had was MySpace but I didn’t really use it to promote or anything. It has changed so much. It’s hard to believe that I started before social media! I remember when Twitter first started. It’s crazy!
CJ: You said your dream some day is to marry a woman. But then I saw on Twitter this week that you have a boyfriend?
Shawna: Yes, I’ve been dating this guy for 2 years. It’s really weird! I didn’t think that I’d find a guy that I liked but I actually found one!
CJ: Is he a civilian?
Shawna: He is, yes. Normal guy, lives around here at home. I go for the guys from home because I feel they understand me the best. I’ve been trying to find a girlfriend but I’m having bad luck finding really hot lesbians in Cleveland.
CJ: Now if you could find one, would you keep the boyfriend?
Shawna: I never thought about that. I would. I would be ok with that. I think I’m ok with open relationships. Being in porn really helps out. It’s not outrageous being with others when all your friends are having sex with each other. (laughs)
CJ: You lost your lesbian virginity at 14, is there a good story behind it?
Shawna: It came about because it was when Instant Messenger and AOL was popular. I was talking to a guy and he told me to tell this girl to leave him alone. I messaged the girl and said, “this guy wanted me to be really mean to you but, hi, my name is Shawna.” And then we became friends and hung out. I think I was the aggressor, the one who initiated the kissing and our little experimentations.
CJ: What would you say is your best girl/girl scene?
Shawna: There’s one girl who I worked with in the past year that has just blown my mind. And it was a boy/girl/girl but I was so focused on her. It was Richelle Ryan. She’s my favorite. CJ: You told me about your first boy/girl scene when you were in high school, Service Animals 21. Is it wrong that I got immense pleasure out of watching that?
Shawna: (laughs) Honestly, if I did it, I would feel weird too. But if I saw it, I’d probably do the same thing. It was a pretty good scene.
CJ: You were just 18, still in school Weren’t you nervous being around all these older men and you were just there to service then? Joey Silvera was at least in his late 30s, there was another guy there, were you intimidated?
Shawna: I watched the dialogue. It was so embarrassing because I look so weird! ‘What am I doing here? I don’t know!’ I just looked like I did not know what I was doing. I was so confused. I wasn’t intimidated or uncomfortable, I just didn’t know what to do yet. The sex didn’t even bother me. What was going on in my mind, I think, was that I wish I knew what I was supposed to be doing right now. I was just repeating the lines that they were feeding me. No emotion to it at all.
CJ: How long did it take you to get comfortable in front of the camera?
Shawna: I think I felt comfortable during the first boy/girl once the sex started. It didn’t really bother me. I became comfortable pretty quickly.
CJ: You were in high school, when did your parents find out about your career?
Shawna: I told them right away. They said it was ok as long as I wasn’t hurting anyone and was responsible. At first, they were shocked but I think they were worried about my health and safety. They pictured big scary guys tossing us around so it’s understandable why, at first, they were a little shocked and scared.
CJ: You’re only 5’3” or something, you’re really petite, aren’t you?
Shawna: Yes, I’m really tiny. The older I get, the more tiny I feel. I’m 29 and there are 12 year olds bigger than me. I’m 5’2” and barely 100 pounds. It’s really hard to go shopping for clothing and everyone just assumes I’m a kid all the time. Most people don’t know I’m a porn star unless they know me. Nobody expects that I would live here. The gas station guys all know, they’re cool. Everyone in my community is cool about it. I don’t think people know randomly because I don’t wear makeup when I go out.
CJ: Did you watch porn before you entered the industry?
Shawna: Yes, I did. I always liked softcore. I liked erotic porn, I’m into the emotions and the romance. I always watched Evan Stone. One day I was watching him on TV and then I ended up working with him the next day which I thought was awesome. I always had a crush on Jesse Jane and now I just love seeing her. She knows who I am and, to me, that means I made it because she was my idol.
CJ: You had a little mishap with your breasts, did you get them fixed yet?
Shawna: No, I didn’t get them fixed yet. I chose to go to Disney first. It was either one or the other with my budget and I chose family first. I decided to tough it out. As soon as I get back, it’s going to be a priority. I’ve been a little scared because it’s a scary thing to go through. I’m tired of being scared and I’m going to get this done by the end of the year. It’s going to be awesome. I can’t wait.
CJ: Now explain to the fans what happened.
Shawna: It’s called capsular contracture which means I have a lot of scar tissue and my right one has moved up into the pocket. It’s not in my armpit but it’s close to it and it burns like crazy. Whenever it’s going to rain, my boobs burn. It’s going to be great having a new set put in because I don’t know what it feels like anymore.
CJ: What size are you going to?
Shawna: Same size, 34C.

CJ: When your kids get old enough, are you going to tell them about your career? What are you going to say about it?
Shawna: I’m going to tell them. Right now, I feel it isn’t age appropriate. As they get older, I’ll tell them. For example, my daughter knows I model at Expos, she doesn’t know what kind of Expos. My son, he knows I model lingerie. He thinks it’s like Victoria’s Secrets style. I’m going to have to tell my son pretty soon. He’s turning 12, maybe in a few years. But I’m very careful. I have parental blocks on. All the other parents know so they’re just a little bit extra careful. I make sure my kids are monitored online. I know what they’re visiting; there are a lot of parents don’t do that these days and I wish more parents did. In a few years, I’ll have to reassess the situation with my son probably. But I wouldn’t be surprised that when I go to tell him that he would say, ‘Yeah, I already know that.’ That wouldn’t shock me at all because somebody will probably tell him before me. Luckily, he’s a really laid back kid and is so cool with everything. I know my kids will understand because they see how hard I work. I’ll tell them that I need an hour on Twitter and they tell me to go ahead and they go outside to play. They know how hard I work. ‘Oh, it’s the end of the month, I have to go to Grandma’s for a few nights so that Mom can get work done.’ They help me with my non-adult businesses. I think in my heart that they’re going to see how hard I work and what I have accomplished for them and they’ll get it. They’ll totally get it.
CJ: What would you say if your son or daughter said they wanted to get into porn?
Shawna: My daughter is my little shadow, all she does is bop with me all day. She doesn’t know what I do and she’ll say, ‘I want to come work with you!’ So I’ll let her work at the travel agency. I’ll tell my kids they can do whatever they want to do. As long as you’re happy, you can make your own decisions. Just be responsible.
CJ: What do you look for in a girl off camera?

Shawna: It would have to be when I was younger because I’m pretty conservative these days. (laughs) Yeah, when I was younger, I would do a lot of risky behavior like having sex on top of an apartment building next to a highway or having sex in a church parking lot.
CJ: Have you ever been in an inappropriate sexual relationship?
Shawna: No. I’ve been asked by a third cousin to hook up and I was very upset about it. I was very distraught and my family wasn’t too happy about it. We also did have a hot teacher in high school that all the girls were into, though. Maybe I wasn’t risky enough! I don’t know!
CJ: Tell me about the Shawna Travel Company.
Shawna: The Shawna Travel Company is a travel agency I opened this year. I have fallen in love with the travel and tourism industry and I just really want to be a part of it. I’ve been selling travel packages and have sent people to the Caribbean and the Bahamas and other places. I’m really excited; I’m helping people plan their travel. I’m planning itineraries, activities, tours…It’s actually a really cool thing I got into.

Shawna: shawnatravel.co As long as somebody needs a hotel stay over 3 nights, I can book it. I just have strict qualifications. I won’t do just flights. It’s very selective, it’s a very personalized travel service. I want them to come back and tell me how much fun they had. I love building relationships. I’ve been building relationships with hotels and motels across the country, tour companies, a lot of great business relationships. It’s been a lot of fun so far.
