Rosco Fuji Interviews JW Ties aka The King of Florida Porn aka Desperate Pleasures Daddy
I first met the undisputed King of Florida Porn, JW Ties from Desperate Pleasures several years ago after reviewing the title “Cum for Me Daddy.” I liked that release so much that I searched out other titles and came across a release called, “Daddy Made Me a Mommy!” With a title like that, I knew I had to arrange an interview with its creator as it’s not too often that you get to meet someone who starts a porn studio from the ground up. Well since that time several years ago, I’ve met and interviewed several girls on the set but was never able to sit down with the head honcho. Finally right before the recent hurricane, we were able to sit down together but hurricane related delays prevented this piece from being finished before now. Enjoy!
RF: How did you get your start?
JW: It’s kind of a fucked up story. When I moved back to Florida and I was an amateur photographer doing portfolios for some of the local girls. Some of the girls had guys who were working on their portfolios for them who were using it as a way to get into the girl’s pants. I started taking stills and had some artsy shots published in the local magazine. Once I had some credits built up I noticed that on Model Mayhem they had a blurb about fetish content. This was back in 2008 and they had lots of content producers and models going to an event and decided to go to check it out. I went to a clips store type of site to show them my work. They provided direction on what type of content to produce and put it on Clips 4 Sale and see if you make money. I did and starting making money. I investigated the best kinds of scenes to produce. About this time, I was still working as a plumber and about a month before the project I was working on was done, I was told that once the job was over, I’d be out of a job. So basically, at this point, it was do or die for me and I was talking with other companies about what type of content would make money and after a couple of months I actually had some money coming in. It was good start.
RF: What kind of problems did you face when first starting out?
JW: No money, no recognition as no one knew who I was, so I had to build a reputation before I could get girls to work with me easily. Working out of your house was tough. Noise was an issue also as I had to sound proof my garage with no money. I went to a lot of construction dumpsters and picked up scratch materials. Luckily I worked in the trade so I knew how to find those sites.
RF: Do those problems continue today or have you moved on to a new set of issues?
JW: Oh dear god, a new set of issues by far. The bigger you get, the bigger the new issues. I have 4 or 5 girls that I work with on a regular basis for their clip stores and stuff. Just on health issues alone, it can really throw things off. 2 days before you’re supposed to shoot a girl, she gets strep throat or breaks a tooth, so it throws your schedule off. But; since you’re dedicated to these girls for building their clip stores, you start running low on content and have to figure out ways to work around it so they get the updates because if they don’t make money, you don’t make money. Competition is another because it has gotten a lot more fierce in my market than when I first got started as people try to copy what I do and steal my thunder. And, they won’t be anything more than a clips producer because they’ll never be able to compete with the big dogs. They talk shit behind your back, but you’re the one out in public holding the awards.
RF: What kind of unscrupulous behavior have you faced on the business side?
JW: People trying to hire the people I have trained from nothing and taught them everything I know so they can steal the information as to what’s happening on my sets.
RF: You mean your technical crew?
JW: Oh yeah.
RF: How many releases are you up to?
JW: I have just finalized my 225th release. I average at least one a week.
RF: What is your basic business model, DVDs versus clip stores, or do you release scenes on Clips and then make it into a DVD?
JW: In my experience, the only way to really make money in this industry is to be in all markets. I’m also working on a cable deal and I have associate producers working under me releasing DVD’s also because content is king and you can only see my fat ass with 18 and 19 year olds for so long before it gets old in my humble opinion. The family model of certain girls that stay around for a while is the backbone of the business by creating the appearance of having a family group. But as far as the best way or biggest focus for me is that I create the content as fast as I can and put it wherever I can recoup my money. Generally speaking, I release on Clips 4 Sale first and then put it out on a DVD because your DVDs are about 2 months retarded from when you actually shoot it. Sometimes up to 10 months because it doesn’t fit what you’re currently working on. I’ve got a series I’m working on right now called “Daddy I’m a Big Girl” but since I’ve only shot 2 big girls so far, there will be a delay on putting out a DVD. Pregnant scenes also as you’re lucky if you can get 3 or 4 pregnant girls a year, so those DVDs get pushed back a bit. My members get exclusive scenes for 1 to 2 weeks, Hot Movies get prelease exclusives on 1 to 2 releases a month and I send it out to them 6 weeks in advance so I’m still generating as much as possible from my masters. There’s so much scheduling involved that it’s hard to say what’s going first regardless of when I shoot it. For example, I just put out Spit Roast Sluts. I shot 2 of those scenes in February and another last month as 2 of the scenes were a custom video for a client and I didn’t want to put it out until I was certain it would make me money on DVD. So far, it’s going good.
RF: How big is you studio at this point?
JW: We’re at about 3200 sq ft with about 12 sets.
RF: Have you ever banged someone across your bike that’s currently sitting behind me?
JW: (Breaks out hysterically.) The first girl I brought in after I bought my bike was Bunny Hughes and I banged the shit out of her bent over my bike. It’s a 2007 Harley Soft Tail Classic btw.
RF: Do you have a favorite release that you’re most proud of?
JW: I have a couple of them. My fave of all time is called “Deflower me Daddy!” and it had me deflower an actual virgin.
RF: So how do you get a legitimate virgin in here?
JW: You get really, really, really lucky. I almost turned it down because I almost couldn’t afford it at the time and a friend of mine who happened to be the agent of record loaned me money to do it. The agent wanted a gentle touch for the first time and knew that most of the porn companies are going for the blood and guts routine of pounding the shit out of her until it bleeds. I took it slow and there was only about 10 minutes of actual sex in the 30 minutes with 15 minutes of it being reassuring, cuddling, teasing, and making sure she was comfortable with it. I have 5 cameras rolling and 3 people on camera working for that one. It was an interesting adventure and I’ll never forget it. That was only the 2nd legitimate virgin I ever had in my life.
RF: How does that work? A girl goes to an agent and says, “I want to lose my virginity of camera?”
JW: She had been a cam girl for almost 2 years doing tease and clitoral stuff with no penetration and had girlfriends in the past but never a serious relationship with a man that actually got there. When she decided to go into adult work, from what I understand, is that she went to a couple agents to discuss it and after agreeing on a rate, there she was. The 2nd release I’m most proud of is “Taboo Family Vacation” and the others are my SVU titles, “Daddy Touched me There” and Daddy Touched me There 2” which featured young girls holding up the teddy bear pointing to where I touched them. #2 also featured a midget and was with anal.
RF: Midget and anal?
JW: Yes! Midget first scene and midget first anal.
RF: Any others?
JW: Lastly, and this was more the brainchild of Camille Black and myself and she came up with the idea of seducing girls and bringing them home to dad. Hence, “Father Daughter Seductions.” FDS #2 won best specialty release at Night Moves last year.
RF: Is that the one with Maxine X in it?
JW: Yeah.
RF: She is so hot!
JW: Right! Did you know I distribute her DVD line now?
RF: That was one of my questions which we’ll get to later.
JW: We’re actually friends outside of porn and go out to dinner when she’s around.
RF: What made you decide on the whole incestuous line of releases?
JW: I started doing tickle hand jobs and was making money on it and had couples come in to do tickling scenes. I did a couple of hardcore scenes with condoms and a family member suggested doing incest scenes as they sell.
RF: Legal issues because of it?
JW: For the taboo stuff, not yet. I’ve been cautioned a few times by my distributors. There are a few things that I can’t put on DVD but can on the web, like the Daddy’s Dungeon series. I bring in girls and work them over quite a bit. I have them beg, cry, bleed, and I’ve made them do pretty much everything under the sun and they knew it going into the shoot. I had one girl on the radio saying no one ever left a permanent mark on her doing a BDSM shoot. As soon as I had her tied up and went to work on her with a Cat o Nine tails I wrapped that around her waist and left some marks on her.
RF: Do you have a hard time keeping all the family connections straight?
JW: Depending on if it’s primary family or how far removed they are.
RF: How many kids have you fathered so far, any idea?
JW: Overall, I have roughly 50-55 daughters.
RF: Given that a lot of your scenes are internal popshots, has anyone ever become pregnant on your set?
JW: Yes. We had a girl come through here about 4 years ago and it was her first scene ever and also her first cream pie ever. And about 6-8 weeks after the shoot she called me to let me know she was pregnant and based on the time frame it was a good chance that it was mine, but she miscarried.
RF: How do you feel about the moniker, King of Florida porn?
JW: I got a kick out of it when somebody said something and made a # about it. It actually feels good when someone else used the moniker because it makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.
RF: What are you doing? Is it just porn or is it something more such as a social statement or anything like that?
JW: Some of it is the artistic manifestation of what goes on in this crazy fucked up brain of mine. Most of the Taboo stuff is not really my artistic presentation, but I do like to do the more artistic stuff or Cosplay like the Harley Quinn parody I did, “Daddy Made Me a Monster.” For me, it’s not a political statement but more me trying to create some awesome art that’s going to be remembered.
Girls
RF: How many different girls have you shot so far?
JW: I’m going to play it safe and say about 300, probably more than that.
RF: Of that 300, are most one and done types or do some linger? Let’s use the virgin example. Whatever happened to her?
JW: We started a clip store, we shot one other time, she went to a couple other companies, then went out to LA. She decided she didn’t want to do the clip store anymore and wanted to do it her way. Next thing I know she’s retired and selling marijuana in California. So out of the 300, I’d say 2/3 are not one and done but are gone inside of a year.
RF: You’ve broken out Kate England and also Anna Belle Peaks who have gone on to become well known names, are there any others?
JW: I shot Anna Belle first and also had Kate’s first anal but it wasn’t her first shoot. I wasn’t responsible for Riley Reid, but she did get some great YouTube P/R out of me that is still going on. Stella May is another and I would love the opportunity to debunk her bullshit. She was in the “Hot Girls Wanted” and she claimed she took a hiatus then came back and hated it. She then begged me to do a scene with Zoey Carter on my set for free. Tell me she didn’t like what she was doing. Cameron Canada was here and she went somewhat big and I think I shot her first scene.
RF: She was on the rise for a while.
JW: Yup, and then she dropped off the face of the earth.
RF: Why do you think they drop off the face of the earth? Is it not for them or do they get found out?
JW: I’m going to say the biggest thing that gets girls out of this industry is bad experiences with bad agents and bad producers. Second, their parents found out. Peer pressure, drugs and alcohol are others. Drugs will kill a career real quick.
RF: Speaking of drugs, have you had girls show up completely wasted and you say, “Sorry honey, get lost!”
JW: I had one that showed up and feel asleep on my couch as soon as she arrived. One showed up still drunk and I didn’t want to shoot her. Another I didn’t figure out until I had shot 3 scenes and she was nodding off mid scene.
RF: Is it tough booking new talent being in FL?
JW: No not at all in my opinion. I have some really good agents and if they get some newbies that are comfortable working with older guys, which I’m facing now, and doing the Taboo, they’ll send me an email saying “She’s ready for her first if you want to do it?” And, a lot of times I’ll take it and sometimes not if the girl isn’t right. I like the newer girls as they still have that innocence and they aren’t jaded yet. Once they hit the big porn sets, they have this notion that when giving head, they should keep their hands out of the way so the camera can get a clear view. The dumbest thing in the world that a girl could do is put their hands on their hip while they are sucking my dick. Nobody does that in real life. Every girl that comes in here I tell them to fuck like they’re fucking in real life and not to worry about the camera.
RF: Have you had any new talent show up, and get cold feet or just flake out completely?
JW: Yes! We’ve had that 2 or 3 times where brand new talent pull the old man card where they walk in and say, “I didn’t know I’d be working with someone over 30.” “Okay, see you later!”
RF: What happens then, do you call the agent or let it slide and move on?
JW: It depends. If it’s a new girl and they get cold feet, I’m not going to yell at the agent and ultimately it’s the girl’s decision and no one should ever force a girl into doing something she doesn’t want to do. And there are some agents who try to push a girl into doing things and I won’t do business with those agents. Word spreads fast when shit like that happens.
RF: Have you turned down any girls that wanted to shoot with you? Why?
JW: Yes. Some of it is because they are overexposed, some of it is attitude, some of it is I don’t want to step on toes of other companies that I’m friends with because we both use the same distributor and it kind of sucks to have several companies putting out the same girl on DVD covers on the same day in the same market. I might use the girl in a different role as they will sell but also stay away from a direct conflict. I even have that respect for some people who don’t have the same respect for me.
RF: Several of your stars now direct, how much input do you have into their content?
JW: Generally, we do a brainstorm with what we’ve shot so far and what we need to finish. Let’s use Hope Harper for example. Her first DVD was Full House and we had shot a lot of content for her clip store that kind of mimicked the Full House TV show. We put together a series of scenes and shot a few tie ins that were basically under my guidance. Now jump ahead a year and she’s bringing me ideas of what she wants to shoot and we start shooting the clips as much as possible. Let’s use a recent scene “Cum in my back door” where that was entirely her. She came to me and said, “I want to do a POV anal scene that focuses on my fans and random guys.” We sat and bounced ideas around for a title and once that was done we started shooting scenes that fell into that basic niche. Camille Black does most of her own. She comes up with her own ideas and every now and then she’ll be like, “Dad, I need your dick!” She put out one recently called “Creating Daddy Issues” which basically was built around her life and her interest in doing graphic arts and creating comics. Evidently, fucking Dad was her inspiration. I thought that was a very unique twist and there were others where I had to coach them along, but as they grow they tend to take on more responsibility and eventually they’ll get their own lines because that’s what I’m after.
RF: What about the pregnant girls?
JW: What about them?
RF: Well, I still crack up at the “Daddy Made me a Mommy” title. But since then I’ve seen that you have several titles where the girl is clearly pregnant. Does that create a whole new set of challenges when it comes to producing content?
JW: Yes it does. Pregnant is a specific niche and for DVD purposes in order to convey the whole concept, we have start with the cream pie that got them pregnant work through the whole 9 months. While working through those 9 months, you wind up shooting other series with the same girl so she gets more work as she moves to term. The one and done preggos are in a different line like “Pregnant and Pounded” where I round out the scenes with other girls who are showing and also attractive to the audience, but that doesn’t always happen.
RF: So that clearly leads to a lactation issue?
JW: I’ve had girls fill my mouth with breast milk and then drop in Cheerios to make me look like a cereal bowl. Breast milk to me is gold.
Shoots / Directing
RF: What is next up on the docket?
JW: I have several girls coming in to work on their sites and also clips store.
RF: How many AVN nominations have you received so far?
JW: Probably about 13 or 15, and I always get a nom for most creative title. So far, I’ve been in the best “Family Relations” category 3 years running now. Night Moves has nominated me several years now.
RF: Do you ever have any problems with male talent?
JW: A few times, but the majority of the time it’s hard to find dependable and reliable guys because they shoot too much during the week or come in hung over and deliver a weak popshot. Jack, who you’ve met is very reliable and can pop 3 times in a day.
RF: How come you haven’t shot any Asian chicks?
JW: You’ve lost your mind. Maxine X for one is complete Cambodian. There’s been a few others also. Daisy the Virgin was 3/4 Asian also. Another was Mia Lee. There were a few others also. Probably about a dozen overall.
RF: What is the most bizarre name for talent you’ve had come in?
JW: She was an Asian chick and her first name was Tye and she asked us to come up with a last name for her. My buddy Bob said, “Lenol” and she went with it. So as a one and done her name was Tye Lenol.
RF: What won’t you shoot?
JW: If it’s a legal and cost effective, there isn’t too much that is off the table.
RF: So if you’re going to direct Hope Harper in a midget gangbang , what kind of outfits are you going to pick out. Are you going to dress them as the 7 Dwarfs, Oompa Loompas, or is there something else?
JW: It couldn’t be Hope because the height contrast isn’t there. Get a 6 ft girl in here where they have to climb and now we’re talking. I believe I’d have them dressed up as fireman in hook and ladder attire. Being midgets they’d always have to go up on her so hence the ladder.
RF: Do you ever hook up with any of the girls off camera?
JW: No, it’s always professional and just for the camera.
RF: What are the pros and cons of working in Florida as opposed to the big porn hubs like LA, Miami and Vegas.
JW: LA is just way too political for me with the whole permitting thing, so it’s way too expensive at this point. Vegas is too new in my opinion to consider, but I probably would enjoy working in Vegas as I like it there. The main pro of Florida is I get a lot more chances at working with new talent here than I ever would in LA. The big con about Florida is once they go to LA they don’t come back as there are a dozen production companies there and they have more opportunities. Here, once they hit the circuit they’ve been shot out. There aren’t a lot of regulations here and also the cost is cheaper also.
RF: Any final word?
JW: Buy more porn damnit.
