Captain Jack interviews Johnny Goodluck
Johnny is one of the newer studs in the adult industry and he has an interesting back story. He is married to an adult performer and got his start by doing the grunt work. Now, he’s performing all the time! Johnny also has an interesting past which we delve into as he opens up about his career.
Captain Jack: Tell me how you got your start in porn.
Johnny Goodluck: Actually, I’m married to Draven Star so my wife has been working in the industry a lot longer than me. She started out with Burning Angel a long time ago. I started by being a roadie for her at conventions. I worked for Burning Angel and became friends with their whole crew. Then we moved to LA 3 years ago and I started PAing for Joanna and Mike Quasar. And Quasar had me help out on Wicked sets. Then we were at AVN about 3 years ago and Hustler magazine wanted some boy/girl content and I was tested. Because I was already in the circle, it just sort of happened.
CJ: You still bartend. Do you ever get recognized?
Johnny: Yes I do. It’s kind of nice to have a persona where people come out publicly and hang out and do normal people things.
CJ: How was your Super Bowl/Birthday Party last weekend?
Johnny: It was pretty cool. It was Super Bowl Sunday and it was a good time. The owners from my bar were there and they took really good care of me too. Erika Icon was awesome. She put out a ton of stuff about it. I had a really good time. It’s always a little bit weird because the Super Bowl hovers around my birthday but it turned out pretty cool. Maybe because I was at my bar and it just turned into a party!
CJ: You also owned a catering company?
Johnny: I cooked for a long, long time before I even started bartending. When we lived in Baltimore, cooking is all I ever did since high school. By the time I was 24, I had enough to start up my own little shop. I was surprised at how successful I got. I did really, really well. Still, to this day, I have about $20,000 worth of catering gear out in my garage. I plan on relaunching in the future when I stabilize how I spend my time. Right now, everything’s so hectic. There will be more in the future, that’s for sure.
CJ: Now, 9 out of 10 guys will say that they can do it. Tell them why it’s not as easy as it looks!
Johnny: It’s really just a matter of body control. Body control and positions. It’s really hard to ask your body to do these things. Almost nobody knows what you really have to do when you perform. The second I try to explain to people what sex stills are and then how the flow of production goes after that, people change their tune real quick. You have to basically block out the entire scene. You walk in the door, you do this, you have this conversation then you have sex. So you take the pictures of all these scenes up until that point. Then you’re getting a blowjob then it’s doggie style…you have to fully do that in that position and get all these pictures taken of you and your scene partner, with penetration, in all these positions. And then you take pictures with your clothes back on then they’ll shoot you after a 20 minute break. Most guys aren’t coming back from that. I learned more about my body the more I do it. It’s about developing control and knowing how to keep yourself together and not over exert yourself.
CJ: I know how working the 9 to 5 is and some days you just don’t feel like being there. Have you ever felt that way in the industry considering you get a new hottie to bang every day?
Johnny: I wish I felt like that more often, to be honest with you. I’m a workaholic so anytime someone calls me, I’m going to work. And, no, I’ve never didn’t want to be on a set. Sure, there are some days when you’re on a set way longer than you need to be or somebody’s late to set or an 8-hour day turns into a 12 or 13 hour day, sometimes that gets a little grueling. But, other than that, no, I’m pretty happy to go to work everyday. I’m blessed to do what I get to do. I’m a lucky guy, there’s not many guys who get to do this.
CJ: Have you ever been booked with a young babe and it’s difficult to contain yourself?
Johnny: I’ve been surprised a couple of times. There’s been different variations of exactly that. There have been times where I’ve thought, ‘Oh my God, this girl is really hot! I can’t wait to shoot with her!’ Then you shoot with her and it’s not as much fun as you thought it’d be. And there are other times where I’ve never heard of a girl before and she’s just awesome in the shoot. She throws me off and it’s hard to hold myself together. There all kinds of ways, that’s part of the fun of it. You’re always surprised because it’s such a personal thing to be doing and you’re having a good experience with the person you’re working with. How awesome is that!
CJ: You were recently in Pure Taboo’s Girls Night. You wrote the script! Tell me about it!
Johnny: We all write our own scripts. Bree does this thing called Porn Star Duty and we all sit down and go over the storyline. Then we create out own dialogue based on what they’re trying to accomplish or what they’re trying to display. So all three of us would basically come up with our own lines and we would fine tune them. So I came up with all the lines for my character and the girls came up with the lines for their characters.
CJ: Who were the two girls.
Johnny: Carolina Sweets and Lily Rader.
CJ: Do you like acting roles?
Johnny: Yes, it’s probably the most unexpected part of performing, having to act and then the more you do it, and the more you realize, acting is really personal. Most people think is all we do is fuck pretty girls. There’s a lot more to it. It’s cool. I never thought that acting would be something that I’d do. But it’s a huge part of the job. It’s interesting and it’s fun to learn and study and get better at that.
CJ: Do you have any new scenes coming out?
Johnny: I just had a Reality Kings gangbang come out with Aaliyah Hadid. I just had a gangbang come out for Evil Angel with Mark Wood and Christy Love. Isiah Maxwell was in there too. I just shot for Devil’s Films yesterday. That should be out in 3 or 4 weeks. The title’s pretty funny, Don’t Tell My Wife I Butt Fucked Her Best Friend.
CJ: What’s your favorite part about the industry?
Johnny: I think my favorite part is how small it actually is. It’s pretty crazy. You were just at AVN and there were a ton of people and it was a madhouse but if you took away all the production companies and cam companies and all the little facets that were in there and just left the performers, you’d be amazed at how small of a circle it really is. It really is a compact industry. We all know each other after a couple of years. It’s kind of insane.
