Crystal Taylor Talks with Captain Jack

Crystal is a new girl on the porn scene but she is truly unique. She has such a wide-ranging background in the entertainment and sex work field that I wonder why it took her so long to find porn! That doesn’t matter because she’s here now and ready to make an impact! Crystal is absolutely gorgeous with a great personality. Captain Jack: Tell me about Crystal Taylor.

Crystal Taylor: I was born and raised in New York. I moved to California at 19 after my freshman year of college. After a cross country road trip involving nonstop music festivals and enough psychedelics to permanently blast my third eye open and shatter my previous conceptions of reality, I landed in Northern California in the cannabis culture. Those were the true wild west pre recreational cannabis culture days that all the OGs in the game reference with great pride. That was an era where you could easily make six figures out of your garage. I was there for a decade and amassed a collection of stories that are absolutely worthy of writing a book about. After about a decade I moved up to Portland when the industry was shifting and I saw the price of the pound steadily dropping. I noticed the industry moving towards capitalist ideals and was ready to move on into more soul-satisfying and lucrative ventures. I was still involved heavily with cannabis and decided to put myself through circus school. After 5 years in Portland studying circus arts, I moved to LA to literally run away with the circus to become a professional aerialist and fire performer. Circus artistry is highly competitive and so I continued consulting for the cannabis industry while performing internationally. During the slow season, a fellow female performer had been working in strip clubs prior to entering the circus and was continuously nagging me to come work at a club with her to show off my pole skills. I was initially recalcitrant to work there but she persisted and I obliged. My first night dancing I made $1500 in five hours which was pretty outrageous for a dancer because this was not the glory stripper days of the ‘90s. In fact it was a Wednesday night in Hollywood and my hustle exponentially evolved from that first night on.  I flourished in the strip club environment and financially speaking it was far superior to the paychecks from circus performances without the aggravation of competing to get booked. I continued to do it on-and-off for 9 years in addition to cannabis consulting and product/equipment distribution. In the process, I developed a reverence for the art of real sex work. Within that time frame, I had a several year endeavor into securing my contractors license in the state of California.  I owned a solar company and did solar panel installations and energy-efficient upgrades to both commercial and residential properties. I always had this deep need to balance my vanilla business dealings with the freak exhibitionist side of myself that needed to be expressed through sex work. Through the cannabis industry, all my wildest dreams came true because the money was really great and I used it to pursue all kinds of interests. For example, I ran a full 26.2 mile marathon and, contrary to popular belief, running a marathon is pretty expensive and time consuming and not a normal pursuit for a person in their 20’s. I wanted to know I could accomplish something that required that level of dedication, persistence, endurance, and consistency.

CJ: How did you find circus performing? Did you just google it?

Crystal: Many years ago I had seen a Cirque Du Soleil aerial performance and I immediately knew it was a sport I wanted to pursue. In 2002 I attended an incredible aerial performance at Burning Man and that solidified my attraction to it even more so. I thought it was beautiful, captivating, and artistic. I was already studying pole dancing so I understood the type of training it involved. I’ve been doing gymnastics since I was a little girl but something about that particular variation of acrobatics really ignited a fire within my spirit. This was before pole dancing was an acceptable form of exercise and was looked upon with judgment and disdain as a sexualized activity. I got really good at it and this was years—I’m talking years—before I ever set foot in a strip club. I networked and met other girls who were into pole who were doing exceptionally interesting and creative choreography. I got turned onto all these different apparatuses and that’s how I truly became obsessed with circus art. It’s funny because it all circled back around to pole when I found my way to a strip club many years later. The reality is if you really understand the hustle of exotic dancing you can bank hard. Circus, however, has a limited budget and a ceiling in terms of earning potential so you really have to do it for the love of the sport. I have friends who actually perform with Cirque Du Soleil and in the height of my dancing career I nearly tripled their annual income. The evolution of it is interesting because I got strong beyond what I believed I was capable of from all the other training and the pole called me back. It’s been an illuminating journey into what is possible with the human body.

CJ: You also said you were a fire performer, what does that all entail?

Crystal: Part of circus arts is prop manipulation and there are many different props with Kevlar wrapping in various formations which are soaked in white gasoline and lit on fire to spin, juggle, and flip for stunning visual effects. I have performed fire hoop, staff, fans, and poi. I have played with fire far too often and am surprised I have not been badly burned.

CJ: Then you stripped for 9 years?

Crystal: Yes, on and off for 9 years.

CJ: With all your moves and your flexibility, I bet you were the top earner at your club.

Crystal: I’ve been the top earner at every club I’ve ever set foot in. I’ve mentored a lot of new strippers that come into the club. It’s not about the stage performance or the tricks I’m doing…those things help but it’s really you’re understanding of psychology and how you relate to people. I don’t have fake tits or heavy plastic surgery but that isn’t necessary and also doesn’t guarantee that you’re going to make money. It all comes down to your hustle and, over the years, you learn that. I came in as an adult with a clear vision of what I wanted out of my dancing career.  I’ve found that the older dancers are the ones often making the most money because they understand the game. I was not there to party, I was there to work with integrity. I never consumed an alcoholic drink in a strip club because I liked to keep my game sharp and I didn’t want to risk an injury doing death-defying pole stunts. I went in, I did my job and I really enjoyed it. I put on a hell of a stage show and I was able to gracefully ingratiate myself to the most difficult of clientele.

CJ: The hustle is nice but just from talking to you a couple of times now, you have a great personality…you’re a genuine person.

Crystal: Thank you so much. The hustle entails a distinct level of authenticity.  I’ll give you an example of a night that stood out in particular.  A guy came into the club once and he emptied his wallet, he gave me everything he had. Then he went to the ATM and gave me more. When everything was done and I officially realized that I had cleaned him out, I could have easily moved onto the next customer but I did not. That night, the club was slow and was catering dinner. I asked him if I could get him a plate. I returned with his food and drink and introduced him to the house mom whom I loved dearly. He felt a sense of a very real connection as I was enjoying his company as much as he was enjoying mine. This man repeatedly came back for a long time to watch me slay the stage and entertain him with the kind of attention only I can give. Those little movements of giving a shit, is what they’re looking for. It’s not about kissing ass or manipulation when it comes to a client handing over large sums of money. It comes down to having some compassion and relatability. I don’t like referring to clientele’ as “tricks” as it feels insulting and trivializes the nature of a person who is supporting your life endeavors. Your clients in any industry are people and they are always buying you before whatever product you are selling. If there is no rapport there is no sale. I don’t mind paying my therapist to listen to me and therefore I am similar to a naked therapist there to entertain, listen with my full attention, and meet the clients’ needs which are more often than not emotionally based.

CJ: You also mentioned that you have been in gymnastics since you were a child. Is that how you became so flexible?

Crystal: Yes, I have trained gymnastics and flexibility since I was a child. When I began training aerial acrobatics, I learned that you have to strike a balance between strength and flexibility to climb 30 or 40 feet into the air, stay up there for 5 minutes, and make it look graceful. In order to excel at aerial I got really serious about contortion training. That was after 10 years of really dedicated hot yoga so I came into contortion training relatively flexible.  I buckled down and trained hard with many 6-8 hour days in the gymnastics studio. It’s all about consistency and discipline, no matter what you want to pursue.

CJ: What do they have you do in a contortion class?

Crystal: It’s similar to a gymnastics class with a more advanced focus on flexibility training. You train various splits and backbends off the floor with a series of blocks underfoot to achieve oversplits which are hyperextensions to some degree. Instead of just pushing up into a backbend, I’m trying to put my head on my ass.

CJ: How close have you come to that?

Crystal: I think the closest I’ve ever come is what you call a scorpion pose. My splits are my specialty but my backbends are still evolving. What can I say?! I love spreading my legs as far as they can go and beyond. (laughs)

CJ: You also have an Only Fans page and you sell clips, when did that start?

Crystal: While I was a dancer I was also working as a consultant in the cannabis industry both solo and for a time I was involved in corporate wholesale cannabis equipment distribution. Around March, I started my OnlyFans and my Manyvids. I already had a lot of content because I was filming porn and not posting it anywhere for years. Crystal: Sandy signed me in the beginning of May. When I started OnlyFans, I had no intention of doing porn with an agency at all. One day in March I was hiking through the woods taking nude pictures of myself with my camera and my tripod and I stumbled across this guy in the middle of the woods and he had a golden drum kit setup. He was filming his own promo for his heavy metal band. It could have been a bad scene but he was truly an angel. He introduced me to his friend who is a producer with several decades in the industry. This producer was pivotal in guiding me towards the right people and answering all my questions. He told me, ‘You’re beautiful and your personality is solid gold!  You are going to thrive in the adult industry!’ He wasn’t trying to make money off me or come onto me at all. He was a kindred spirit who saw my unique talents. He introduced me to Sandy and she signed me immediately. That was a huge surprise to me, it was never planned. It’s not really any different than what I’ve been doing in my personal life for years and years.

CJ: You are also 38 and proud of it, as you should be!

Crystal: I’m really proud of the fact that I’m 38 and have no desire to conceal my age. My body and face reflect my healthy lifestyle. Nobody would ever guess my age unless you told them. I’m proud of how well I’ve taken care of myself for all these years. I’m dedicated to my self-care routines.

CJ: You have always been very sexual, as you said.  When did you discover your sexuality? Was it at a young age?

Crystal: I dripped sexuality from the time I was very young and for that reason my mother never left me alone with anyone. I was never molested or beaten as a kid so I don’t fulfill those common stereotypes of adult performers. My parents are still married today and I consider them normal. CJ: So why were you considered the bad girl of the school?

Crystal: My parents were fundamentally strict old school New York Italian’s with Roman Catholic upbringings. Their chokehold on my social life caused me to continuously struggle for my independence and was classified as rebellion. I think if they had just relaxed and allowed me to have more freedom I maybe wouldn’t have felt the need to be so outrageous. If you asked them, they’d most likely give you a completely different story. If I wanted to see one of my friends, they’d say, ‘We have to talk to their parents.’

CJ: After you gave a movie performance that 300 people will never forget, did you start sleeping around?

Crystal: I have no idea what qualifies as sleeping around but I can tell you I have always found great pleasure in exploring my sexuality.

CJ: When was your first time with a girl?

Crystal: Definitely before I lost my virginity, I think I was 12. I had a neighbor who was two years older and repeatedly initiating sexual encounters with me. Riley: I don’t honestly know. A lot. (laughs)

CJ: Were you with girls before porn?

Riley: I was, yes. There were 5 or 6 girls who I’ve been with sexually one-on-one. So I’ve been with girls too.

CJ: After high school, did you have any regular jobs or did you go to college?

Riley: Before I started porn, I didn’t really intend to start doing porn. I was doing software development before this. I went to college and took one class on a programming language and taught myself everything from there. It was an introduction to the tech world but I didn’t know where to start basically. Then I posted some naked pictures on Reddit for fun and, from there, I started posting a little bit more. Then I started an OnlyFans which I was half-committed to because I was still doing a lot of coding work. Riley: I was almost named Riley. That was the name I was using on Reddit. And I came up with ‘Jean’ because that rolls off the tongue nicely.

CJ: So what was your first scene like? You were sexually experienced but it’s different with all these people around. Were you intimidated? Nervous? Turned on?

Riley: I was more nervous for the acting than for the actual sex. When it came down to the having sex part, I’m totally fine and comfortable. But the intro and the small acting bits that I had to do, I was terrified! (laughs)

CJ: What’s your favorite position?

Riley: I really like missionary but I like it where my legs are completely behind my head.

CJ: Are you really flexible?

Riley: Probably 40s.

Riley: I like rock and pop/punk. Alternative music too. I don’t really listen to rap or anything like that.

CJ: Do you have any favorite movies?

Riley: I’m a big horror movie fan. So I love any horror movie. I also really like Darren Aronofsky as a director. So pretty much anything he does, I’ll watch and know I’m going to love.

CJ: What’s your favorite TV shows?

Riley: Probably Community. That’s hilarious and amazing.

CJ: What’s your favorite food?

Riley: I love pasta. Any type of Italian food I love.

CJ: What’s the kinkiest thing you’ve ever done?

Riley: This isn’t necessarily kinky but it’s the first story that comes to mind. I had a boyfriend who worked at a Subway. He and I talked about how funny it would be if we fucked at the restaurant. Kenzie Reeves Talks with Captain Jack

Kenzie is an absolute star in the adult industry. I have wanted to talk to the 2020 AVN Female Performer of the Year Nominee for a while now. If I had a bucket list of girls I wanted to interview, Kenzie would be at the very top! We saw each other every year at the AE Expo but never connected for an interview. Finally, I hit pay dirt and Kenzie was everything I could have asked for and more! She was funny and revealing and was just a super person to talk to! Captain Jack: Tell me about Kenzie Reeves.

Kenzie Reeves: I grew up in New Hampshire. I am totally a New England person. Duncan Donuts over Starbucks any day! (laughs) My mom’s side is really Mormon, workaholic, very strict. I had a 5pm curfew until I was 18. Then the day I turned 18, I quit Taco Bell and became a stripper. I did it for a year-and-a-half and did everything I could do with that; made the most out of it. I thought what else I could do and googled porn. I thought about it for a few days and then flew out!

CJ: How old are you?

Kenzie: I just turned 23 last week.

CJ: How long have you been in the industry?

Kenzie: Sept. 26 will be 3 ½ years. So a little over 3 years, not quite a veteran yet but a little more than a rookie.

CJ: Don’t they say most girls last 3 or 4 months>?

Kenzie: I think it all depends on the person. Half the people that initially get into this aren’t doing it because they really actually like sex. Some people do this just because they need money. When you’re doing something for money and you don’t actually love it, you’re not going to have the same amount of passion and it shows.

CJ: The day you turned 18 and became a stripper, did you move out of your parents’ house as well?

Kenzie: I already had my own apartment at 17. I graduated high school early. I was actually going to be a psychiatric nurse or an RN. I did vocational programs for both and I did an internship for a psychiatric nurse in a children’s psych ward. After doing those things, I realized that I have a very focused personality. If I see a guy that I know is guilty or a kid that has an imaginary friend; it’s normal at 6, I wouldn’t be able to abide by the rules.

CJ: I heard you lost your anal virginity before vag?

Kenzie: I grew up Mormon! I didn’t even use tampons until I was 18! I was so afraid! I didn’t even know how to put it in! I remember, I had to, the first time I used one, I had to. I was not allowed to even wear makeup unless it was a holiday and, even then, it was just mascara and lip gloss. I was also a tomboy too so that’s part of it.

CJ: Are you still close to your mother because I can’t imagine she likes your career?

Kenzie: In my family, I had always been the black sheep; I had always been the one who went to do what they wanted. But in a peaceful way, I’m very responsible. I had my own place at 17, I’ve never even had a roommate. I’ve always had my shit together so it wasn’t like I was this troubled kid that went off to do porn. I have a good head on my shoulders and they can tell that this is something that I really want to do. She’s definitely become more comfortable with it. She’s always accepted it but she’s recently started asking me how things work. It’s really cool how time has gone on that she’s become a little more curious rather than just accepting. They’re actually opening up to it.

CJ: So you were 14 when you first took it up the butt? How was it?

Kenzie: No, I was 14 when I lost my girl/girl virginity. That was the first thing. Then I was 16 when I lost my anal and 17 when I lost my vaginal.

CJ: Let’s start with the first one, your lesbian virginity. Were you the aggressor or did she come after you?

Kenzie: I grew up in a very religious family and, every summer, there was this stupid fucking church camp that I was forced to go to. It was an overnight camp and you’re up north. CJ: And then you lost your anal virginity when you were 16.

Kenzie: I was at a party with my boyfriend at the time and, oh my gosh, I don’t want to embarrass him if he ever reads this! CJ: So you turned 17 and finally lost your vaginal virginity. How was that one?

Kenzie: That one was more romantic. His dad had a lake cabin and we would go up there on the weekends and hang out. One night, it was our one-year anniversary and he had the flowers and the candles; it was really romantic. I remember crying, ‘I don’t know if this is right! We’re not doing it right!’ But it was time. (laughs)

CJ: Now look at you 5 years later!

Kenzie: I know! I know! I’m like, ‘What happened?’ Little did I know.

CJ: Once you finally had sex, did you go wild then and start sleeping around?

Kenzie: I did break up with him a couple of months later because I liked somebody else. I had 3 or 4 boyfriends after that but I was in New Hampshire, there’s not many people to choose from! And I’ve known them all since I was a kid, they knew too much. (laughs)

CJ: Being so religious, even taking it in the butt, did you have feelings of guilt afterwards?

Kenzie: No because I wasn’t. I had to be until I was 18. My family didn’t make me get baptized because they left that choice to me because it’s a commitment. I do not believe in God, I believe in everything. Whatever happens, happens. Let it be. None of us really knows so anything’s possible. I’m just mellow about it and, ‘whatever!’

CJ: I also heard you have a daddy fetish? You like calling men ‘daddy’?

The second name I liked was ‘Kenzie’ because it’s very bubbly and very sweet and happy. Then, ‘Reeves’, one of my favorite actors, not just as an actor but as a person, is Keanu Reeves. He is such a humble, down-to-earth, generous person. I really admire that. He inspires me and no matter where this career takes me, I never want to forget my roots and my humble beginnings.

CJ: So what was your first scene like? You were sexually experienced but it’s different with all these people around. Were you intimidated? Nervous? Turned on?

Kenzie: (laughs) I love when girls say they were so nervous when they got in because I was still doing this. Throughout the whole plane ride and car ride to the airport out of nerves. I know everybody’s experiences aren’t similar but his performance is over-the-top amazing. That’s something you can’t really discredit him for. His energy is more than my energy and that’s hard to top! It’s very hard to top me because I have a lot of energy! (laughs) The fact he brings that much more energy than I do is amazing!

For directors, I have to say my favorite, favorite, favorite is Chris Streams 100%. He always makes me so comfortable and I love that he pays attention to details. He’s not one of those directors that you’ll ever hear, ‘Hmm, that’s fine.’ I love that he’ll tell you, ‘Move your elbow ½ and inch…. nope, move it back.’ But it looks so perfect and he really cares about every photo. It makes me feel pretty when I see it. So he’s one of my favorites. I love Mason. I love her. I love her energy. I love how much she cares and the intensity level. I like that because I’m intense.  I like when I’m with people that have my work drive and you can tell she puts so much thought and time into each scene. Another person I love working with is Jonni Darkko. He is so much fun to work with. He has taught my butthole to do things I did not know it could do. (laughs) That, to me, is a huge accomplishment so he’s one of my favorites because every time I work with him, I learn something new about my body. And then Stills by Alan because he literally has that attention to detail. I love directors that care about what they’re doing and aren’t there for just a paycheck. He puts so much detail and attention into his scenes. And I really like to work with people like that because it makes me feel like it’s worth my time too because it’s worth your time.

CJ: You’ve worked with pretty much everyone, is there anyone out there, performers or directors, you would love to work with that you haven’t had a chance to yet?

Kenzie: I would love to work with Riley Reid. I would love to work with her. She’s my number 1! I’ve been waiting. One of these days, it will happen!

CJ: What do you like sexually? What gets Kenzie wet?

CJ: What are you like off-camera? When you have free time, what do you do for fun?

Kenzie: I watch Netflix and I eat food. (laughs) I love shopping, I have a huge shopping addiction I will say. And I love horseback riding. I go trail riding and will rent a horse for a day and go up into the mountains. I love paddle boarding. I’m actually moving this year or next to Las Vegas where they have more lakes nearby and I can paddleboard every day. I don’t get to do it enough here.

CJ: What kind of music do you like?

Kenzie: EDM.

CJ: Do you have any favorite movies?

Kenzie: My favorite movie of all-time is Casino with Joe Pesci. It’s such a classic. That’s definitely my all-time favorite. Other movies would be Legally Blonde, I can not discredit. And The Devil Wears Prada.

CJ: What’s your favorite TV shows?

Kenzie: I love the show Zipper on Netflix.

CJ: What’s your favorite food?

Kenzie: I would have to say Asian. I’ve been to Asia twice. I love the food, it’s so different, the spices and it tastes so good!

Eventually, I thought, ‘I live in Los Angeles, I already have sex for money, I’m already naked on the internet…I should put all those things together and also do porn. Penny: Yes. I think I hid my ‘gay’. I’m realizing I’m a lot more gay than I always thought I was. I had my first girlfriend when I was in high school, a really hot redhead. In that culture, she was the symbol of marital fidelity and I thought it was a funny joke because an escort mostly sleeps with married men and I was mocking them a little bit with that. Sonia Harcourt Talks with Captain Jack

Sonia is an intelligent, well put together woman and I knew that going into the interview. Sonia Harcourt: I was a theatre kid. I was a Theatre major and Musical minor in college. The original plan was to try and be on Broadway. That obviously didn’t quite work out. I realized as I was living the lifestyle that I didn’t like working nights and weekends and missing out on family and friend events because you have to wake up at the crack of dawn to audition. From there, I did a little bit of everything. I did retail, I did construction and I was a dog walker.

CJ: Have you lived in New York your whole life?

Sonia: I was born in Central New York but I have been in the city for 16 years in January.

CJ: How old are you?

Sonia: I will be 34 in December.

CJ: How long have you been in the industry?

Sonia: My 3-year anniversary is coming up in September.

CJ: When did you lose your virginity?

Sonia: I was a late bloomer. I didn’t lose my virginity until my first boyfriend at 23.

CJ: Why did you wait so long?

Sonia: I was painfully insecure for most of my life. I never had boyfriends in high school. I didn’t get hit on in bars or anything. So I actually met my first boyfriend on OK! Cupid. Once you get past 20, 21, you don’t want to give it up to just anybody at that point. It’s weird. So that was how that happened.

CJ: So once you got the first one out of the way, I’m sure you got a little bit more confidence, were you promiscuous at all? Did you start sleeping around?

Sonia: No, he and I were together for about 2 ½ years. At first, I thought he was the one so when he broke up with me, I was pretty devastated. When I first got started, it was a lot of, ‘No, you can’t do crossover! You can’t work with Trans Girls!’ And I was, ‘Fuck you then, I’m not working with you!’ (laughs)

CJ: You are so sex-positive. How tough is it, especially in the United States, where we glorify violence but, at the same time, we say sex or sexuality is bad?

Sonia: Dude! You just touched on my life philosophy and how frustrating it is in this country! Violence and school shootings are an everyday thing but if titties are exposed, it’s ‘Ohhhh! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!’ I can’t even begin to tell you how infuriating that hypocrisy is to me. I would be a little bit more understanding if it was both; if people were equally offended by one or the other but it’s not! I don’t know if it’s because we’re a young country, but we’re so puritanical. My tattoo artist is from Italy and she told me that when she first came to the country, ‘I never wore a bra until I got to America. And I started getting dirty looks. You guys are just crude!’ We are! I just don’t understand. Maybe it’s a time thing and we’ll get over it but there is such a shame associated with sex. Not even just sex but the human body. Nudity and breasts aren’t inherently sexual but we make them that. I don’t know if that will ever change if it ever will.

CJ: Why did you decide to get into the adult industry?

Sonia: I’ll try to make a long story short. I had a bad experience with one of my favorite dogs. The owners were the kind of people where if I ever asked, she would always be there for me. I took care of their dog for years. I was the first-ever non-family member to stay with their dog. They got married in the Bahamas and on their 5-year anniversary, I sat for them and the little guy jumped off the bed which he NEVER did—ever. In the entire six years I took care of him, never. And, long story short, I tried to catch him and he slipped a disk and they never talked to me again. So that really changed me. I was going to get a grooming license and full-on devoted to pet care. So when that happened, I thought, ‘Shit, what the hell do I do now?’ And my best friend happened to work at an LGBTQ non-profit organization and she mentioned the crossover with sex work and they’re not always as experience or quick to offer help or advice in that community. She said that I always felt comfortable talking about sex and would I ever consider being an advocate. I made a store with sex-positive merchandise and got to know the industry and made a lot of friends. I got approached by an agent and thought, ‘Woah!’ I thought about it when I was younger but was so painfully insecure that it was not an option. And so I thought, ‘Wow, that shipped hasn’t sailed?’ I was about to turn 31 and didn’t think I could get into the industry at that late date, can I? So I said, ‘What the hell? Let’s see what happens!’ And here we are!

CJ: How did you come up with your stage name?

Sonia: It’s actually a combination of two of my favorite theatre roles. ‘Sonia’ from Godspell which is why it’s spelled with an ‘i’ and not a ‘y’. And ‘Jacqueline Harcourt’ from Me and My Girl.

CJ: So what was your first scene like? You were not really sexually experienced and then you had all the cameras and people watching. Were you intimidated? Nervous? Turned on?
